Campylobacter jejuni is one of the most common causes of food poisoning and human gastroenteritis. For the production of the native antigen Campylobacter jejuni subsp. jejuni is cultivated on solid medium and partially purified by detergent extraction of the membrane fraction. The main antigen in SDS-PAGE is the outer membrane protein with approx. 45 kDa. The native antigen is suitable for the detection of IgG, IgM and IgA antibodies against C. jejuni.
