Candida albicans

Candida albicans is an opportunistic pathogenic yeast that is a common member of the human gut flora and detected in the gastrointestinal tract and mouth of healthy adults. In immune suppressed persons, e.g. after an organ transplantation, Candida can lead to potentially life-threatening candidiasis.

For production of the native antigen Candida albicans (wild strain) is cultivated on solid medium and partially purified by selective extraction. The antigen consists of cytoplasmic and cell wall components.

The antigen BA117VS is suitable for the detection of IgG, IgM and IgA antibodies against Candida albicans.
