SERION antigens
Dengue Virus
Approximately 3.9 billion individuals reside in dengue endemic risk areas. According to the World Health Organization, up to 390 million cases of dengue fever occur worldwide each year.
Dengue Virus belongs to the family of Flaviviridae of positive-sense, single-stranded RNA viruses and is currently one of the most important arboviral causes of infectious disease and death in humans. The virus is transferred to humans by the two major mosquito vectors Aedes aegypti and Aedesalbopictus. Primary Dengue Virus infections are often asymptomatic. During secondary infections, symptoms such as bleedings and shock are frequently observed. Dengue Virus serological tests are commonly used for confirmation of acute infection, control ofvaccination effectiveness and epidemiological studies.
Virion\Serion’s recombinant Dengue Virus type 2 Envelope Protein E (BA114R01) consists of two ectodomain proteins that are linked together. This linkage results in stable compounds that are structurally and immunologically very similar to the E-dimers on the surface of native Dengue viruses. BA114R01 is recombinantly expressed in insect cells and highly purified by Strep-tag affinity chromatography, which guarantees high quality and availability.
