SERION antigens
Chlamydiaceae
The genus Chlamydia includes, among others, the human and animal pathogenic species C. pneumoniae, C. trachomatis and C. abortus.
For the production of the native antigen BA1371VSER, strain C. pneumoniae TWAR strain TW-183 is cultivated in cell culture (BGM cells) and the elementary and reticular bodies are prepared by ultra-centrifugation. For the production of the native antigen BA1372VSER, C.trachomatis is cultivated in Vero cell culture.
In case of C. pneumoniae a further purified native antigen is available – the COMC premium antigen BA1371VS . This antigen is prepared by detergent extraction of the reticular bodies to prepare chlamydial outer membrane complexes (COMCs). This premium antigen is highly recommended for the detection of IgG, IgM and IgA antibodies against C. pneumoniae.
With respect to C. trachomatis, our portfolio includes two recombinant antigens. The C. trachomatis MOMP antigen BA1372VSR2 is produced in E. coli and purified by chromatography in the presence of urea and the C. trachomatis MOMP Fragment antigen BA1372VSR1, which is likewise produced in E. coli and purified by chromatography. Purity is confirmed for both antigens by SDS-PAGE (Coomassie staining), and they are suitable for the detection of IgG, IgM, and IgA antibodies against C. trachomatis.
