Diphtheria Toxoid

Diphtheria is an infectious disease caused by Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Diphtheria toxin is responsible for pathogenicity. It is mainly transmitted by droplet and smear infection. Incubation time is usually two to five days. In temperate climate zones, clinical symptoms of diphtheria mainly affect the respiratory tract.

For the production of native antigen, Diphtheria toxin (Corynebacterium diphtheriae tox+) is cultivated in broth culture. Purification of Diphtheria toxin is performed from culture medium filtrate by chromatography. Chemical detoxification is achieved by formalin treatment. Diphtheria Toxoid is presented in glycine buffer at pH 9.5.

The antigen BA130VS is suitable for detection of IgG antibodies against the causative agent of diphtheria.
