Zika Virus

Mosquito-transmitted Zika virus is an emerging threat to humans. Zika virus was first isolated in Central Africa and has been spread to South Asia and South America rapidly. The Zika virus outbreak in Brazil in 2016 has gained worldwide attention and has been linked to an increasing number of microcephaly cases in new-borns. Clinical symptoms of infection are mild fever, rash, myalgia, arthralgia and headache. Zika virus is a member of the Flavivirus family and is structurally closely related to Dengue virus. Due to similar symptoms, Zika virus infections can easily be misdiagnosed as Dengue virus infections and vice-versa.

To ensure highest specificity and sensitivity, we have developed a new recombinant full length Zika virus NS1 antigen. The antigen BA149R01 is expressed in the Drosophila melanogaster S2 cell-based expression system ExpreS2TM and highly purified by chromatography.
