Measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (MMRV) are widespread viral infections. Primary infection in adults, especially in immunosuppressed patients, and infection during pregnancy or in neonates can lead to serious complications and can even be lethal. Despite successful vaccination campaigns, serology for measles, mumps, rubella and varicella remains important not only for confirmation of acute infection, but also for monitoring vaccine effectiveness, screening pregnant women or in the context of transplantation.
